Hood River County caters to road cyclists and mountain bikers alike. You can ride scenic roadways and single track all in one weekend. Road cyclists often head east along the Mosier Twin Tunnels Trail, and continue along the Historic Columbia River highway to the scenic overlook at Rowena Crest.
Cycle the Hood River Valley and Beyond
Our cycling guests can ride off from the Old Parkdale Inn toward the Mt Hood National Forest where forest roads and mountain bike trails await. Then there’s always the option of riding the Hood River County Fruit Loop, a scenic ride along the backroads through orchards, forests and small communities.
Historic Columbia River Highway and State Trail , America’s first scenic highway, includes some car-free sections. It’s praised for its breathtaking waterfalls, architectural genius and magnificent views of the Columbia River Gorge. Work has begun on the last 5 miles bike-only section. When complete this will be an innovative 74 mile road-to-trail conversion constructed on portions of the Historic Columbia River Highway. The section east of Hood River, the Mark O. Hatfield Twin Tunnels, is a 4.5 mile auto-free, paved road. After the Tunnels you can share the road and ride all the way to The Dalles.
