Discover Benefits of Joining the Oregon Bed & Breakfast Guild

The Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild is a professional association of Oregon’s individually operated Bed & Breakfast Inns. Our mission is to assure travelers of consistently high standards in a variety of accommodations and to support members through networking, promotion, advocacy, and education.

The Old Parkdale Inn is a member of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild. The Inn joined the Guild in 1990, which is just shortly after the guild’s founding. Since its inception, the Guild has dedicated itself to supporting the quality and accessibility of Oregon’s numerous inns and bed and breakfasts.

The traditional B&B industry has faced significant challenges in recent years, largely due to the rise of vacation rental platforms like Airbnb and the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Join the Oregon Bed and Breakfast in creating an Oregon that is a welcoming destination where tourism drives economic prosperity, benefits the natural environment and celebrates rich, diverse cultures. Together, we can strengthen the B&B community and ensure these unique stays continue to flourish. Join us today and be part of something bigger!

  1. Marketing: The website of the Oregon Bed & Breakfast Guild is an online directory exclusively of approved and inspected Oregon B&Bs. All guests book directly with you and – unlike online travel agents – OBBG never takes a commission. We drive traffic using current techniques that include maintaining a high Google organics rating, blog posts which are distributed on our social media platforms, in our quarterly newsletters, with a reach of over 500 subscribers, and print media like our statewide-distributed Rack Card.
  2. Networking: We’ve several ways to network through our private Facebook forum conversations and regional meetings, connecting with other innkeepers who have industry knowledge
  3. Advocacy: As the only statewide Bed & Breakfast association, we represent B&Bs to Travel Oregon, ORLA, the Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism and to the national B&B association ALP, the Association of Lodging Professionals.
  4. Education: Technology has become an important part of our businesses, and it can be hard to keep up with all the changes. We host an annual conference where we bring in hospitality partners who educate with the latest and greatest in hospitality and technology. Members get special pricing at our Annual Conference. Our new Website Developer, ThinkMarketing hosts a webinar each month, that is free to members, offering invaluable hospitality information.

The Guild has online sales of Lodging Gift Certificates. They are sold in $50 increments and can be redeemed at every member inn with 100% of the value going to the hosting inn. Added benefit: Enjoy $60/night rates at member inns through the Innkeeper Getaway Program

‘I’ve a  deep passion for bed and breakfasts and the unique charm they bring to hospitality. The intimate atmosphere, personalized service, and sense of home they provide make them truly special. B&Bs create meaningful connections between guests, hosts and the community, offering a warm, welcoming experience that goes beyond a traditional hotel stay. Whether it’s crafting unforgettable guest experiences, supporting local communities, or celebrating the individuality of each property, I am truly dedicated to the bed and breakfast industry.’ Mary Pellegrini – owner/innkeeper for over 20 years of the Old Parkdale Inn Bed and Breakfast in the Hood River Valley

Although we have a lengthy checklist to maintain Quality Assurance, membership requirements for OBBG are not tough. We are looking for the guests’ safety and comfort, adequate insurance, and legal standing in all appropriate jurisdictions regarding licensing and taxes. Even though B&Bs with one or two rooms are exempt from some of these requirements from the state’s point of view, we ask that all of our member inns meet them. Since some might not be familiar with the requirements, let me assure you that it does not include things like commercial kitchen standards. We are looking for sanitizing cycles on residential dishwashers, thermometers in refrigerators and the like. Innkeepers have even said the inspections were a great learning experience.

With access to exclusive resources, networking opportunities, and industry support, joining an state association is a great way to enhance your business and connect with fellow innkeepers. Take back the bed and breakfast industry from airbnb. Let’s grow and thrive together! Need a bit more time, reach out and let’s talk! Contact us via E-mail info@obbg.org.
